We showed dogs under the banner Starfire Akitas from 1985 until 2005 when I gave up dog shows to go back to school and become a nurse. Some of our major wins at dog shows are as follows:
1999 Akita Nationals – Winners Bitch and Best of Winners, Ch. Starfire’s Moonlight River “Rio”.
2001 World Show (Portugal) – Best of Breed, FCI Ch. Starfire’s Take a Chance “Chance”.
2002 Akita Nationals – Best Brood Bitch, Ch. Starfire’s Moonlight River “Rio”.
2004 #1 Akita in Mexico, Ch. Starfire’s Cool Hand Luke “Luke”.
2005 Akita Nationals – Best Three Generations, Ch. Starfire’s Moonlight River “Rio”, Ch. Starfire’s Moonlight Quest “Kay”, and Ch. Starfire’s Moonlight Trek “Spok”.
In 1997, we bought Summerwind Kennels to accommodate our growing dog business.
We serve the greater Solano and Yolo Counties with most of our customers coming from Vacaville, Fairfield, Dixon, and Winters.
Among our customers are Police K-9 units from the cities of Oakland, San Francisco, Vallejo, Pinole, San Pablo and Dixon. In addition, police officers from Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Dixon, and Solano County bring their personal dogs to us for boarding.
